Sneaky Ways To Trigger Muscle Growth

Muscle growth is easy at first but then it becomes elusive, time passes with little change in body composition in spite of good eating and hard training in the gym. For me it even comes to a point that my muscle size and strength totally stall unless I use something to trigger them out of the slump. Over the years I have picked up a few ways to spur muscles into new growth and hopefully you can pick up some tips and techniques to add to your repertoire….

Bulking Up To Look Great Naked

Last week I tweeted a question on what my fellow tweeple would like me to write about for the next article. I got a private message that read:

I’d like to read how to gain 5-10 lbs bodyweight in 4 weeks. perhaps a post about gaining weight in general? Cheers, Marc

This is a great topic that has been discussed ad nauseum on many fitness and bodybuilding forums. However there seems to be some confusion about the process, especially the right and wrong way to gain weight(ideally muscle mass). When you look at the process of gaining weight, purely from a physiological standpoint, a surplus of kcals rules out indefinitely.

Since those of you reading this are most likely interested in looking great naked, I think it’s safe to say you would like to gain the most lean muscle mass possible with the least amount of fat. Yea, I know, this would be ideal and if we lived in a perfect world, we would not even have to work out to look great in the nude. [Read more...]

Lyle McDonald’s Bulking Routine

Lyle McDonald of BodyRecomposition is very well known for his in depth and no BS approach when discussing nutrition and fat loss. He has published a total of seven books, all of which are incredible resources especially when learning about proper dieting. To date, he has not published any books on training, but I suspect that day may come eventually.

Speaking of training, he has developed his own generic bulking routine which has its own sticky in the bodybuilding section on his infamous discussion forum. The program has been hashed out ad nauseam by the forum members and Lyle has referenced it in one of his training articles in which he discusses a few popular hypertrophy training programs such as DC Training and HST Training.
