Spot Reduction: Ass, Thighs and Abs

In a recent conversation with a female that was once grossly overweight, I was told about her discovery of some interesting information she found on the internet.  While she’s lost a lot of weight, her dissatisfaction with her appearance is uncanny.  I think she looks great, actually.

She explained to me that despite dropping the weight over several months, she feels she needs to do more.  When I asked her what else she thought she could do besides watch her diet, work out and be patient, she responded with “can you tell me more about spot reduction?”

T-Muscle’s(T-Nation) I, Bodybuilder Review: Fact or Fiction?

A few weeks ago I was searching for the most innovative bodybuilding program the internet had to offer. I was hungry. I found myself at the end of my rope and about to place my last bet. At this point, I needed a miracle, a cure, a quick fix; I needed salvation.

My savior came in the form of a fancy article titled I, Bodybuilder. Sheesh, I feel like a sellout just linking to them. T-Muscle(or T-Nation?) has absolutely gone to the crazy house with this one. When this gem was published a few weeks back, my jaw literally hit the floor. I could not believe what I was reading. For a moment I got so lost in the copy that I thought I was reading a comic book about bodybuilders, seriously.

The article is an interview of sorts between Nate Green and Tim Patterson. There is a 4 minute long video at the beginning of the article with some really catchy taglines and phrases being read aloud by a Hollywood style voice over. [Read more...]

Why Are We Doing This Training Stuff Anyway?

Why do you train and what is your motivation? Everyone has their own goals and priorities. For me, strength training is a great stress reliever. It’s also something I have been addicted to since I began at the age of 14. I also enjoy being fit and looking the part of the former athlete. But what about you?

The fact is we all have different reasons for our athletic pursuits. Some of us are/were competitive athletes and for some of us, strength training or long distance running is merely a hobby.
