JC Deen | Alan Aragon | Roger Lawson
–
Roger Lawson of RogLawfitness.com and I have put together our very first podcast after many requests. It was our first one, and we’re just having fun with it. We plan to do a few of these every month – so if you have anything you want us to cover, feel free to contact either one of us with your ideas and questions.
You can either listen below by clicking the “play” button or alternatively, right clicking the link here and saving it to your computer. It’s about 50 minutes long, so if you don’t have time to listen now, make sure you download it for later.
Contents:
Opening: Roger and I give some information on our backgrounds in the industry.
First Point: How Roger and I’s training has evolved over the years.
Second Point: How often to swap out assistance exercises for deeds, presses and squats.
Those references in the podcast:
Alan Aragon and his Research Review
Nick Horton – Samurai Strength (not an affiliate link) <– the book I mentioned in the podcast – great read.

Make sure you get Alan to join one of the podcast.
Pretty good first effort.
I would like to see a podcast discussing your nutrition. I think both of you IF LG’s style? JC, I think you mentioned you don’t IF all the time.
Cool – we definitely will get Alan on the podcast.
I no longer IF, but did for a very long time.
Can you provide transcripts?
Thanks
would love to, but I don’t have the time to produce them. not sure Roger does either.
Thanks for the shout-outs, guys! I really enjoyed the podcast. Just straight-ahead no-BS, useful stuff spoken from the heart. Love it. It’s so gratifying to know that I’ve positively influenced good people in this field. I look forward to trolling the shit outa things on one of them-there episodes.
…
. Awesome job…How often do you plan to put these out?
Thanks Matt. We hope to put them out about 2x per month outside of our writing schedules.
You guys are funny, I’d def listen again
Keep it up!
S
thanks Sirena! there will be more.
Good stuff guys I enjoyed it all!
I’m glad you guys got a kick out of it – there’s more goodness where that came from!
“Books?! I’m done with books!” -God damn. I can’t understand those people that think like that.
If you don’t like your field enough to study it… find something else!!
I found myself nodding the whole way through to both your and JC’s words. Look forward to the next one lads.
Awesome first episode guys- really enjoyed learning more about yall. Gave a lot more clout to everything you write knowing your backgrounds and who yo’ve learned from. I think the points you make about having mentors is huge and I took a lot away from that.
thanks – we really appreciate the kind words and glad you enjoyed it!
Okay I finally managed to listen to this (I tried at work but by boss kept asking me to do work, he’s selfish like that). Anyway I really enjoyed listening to it and I really hope you do more.
I laughed at Rog’s 165 with an afro story although on a serious note to add 45lbs in a relatively short space of time is just awesome. I guess it highlights steady but consistent gains as an ultimate win, although I’m sure the Cinnabons had something to do with it too.
it’s all in the cinnabons!
Will this be making it into iTunes? That’s the only way I know to listen to this at a 2x rate on my ipod.
sure will!
This is awesome! Thanks for putting it together for us…
no worries – just set up the iTunes feed and awaiting approval
listened last night – a great first episode… I think a great question for next time would be one Mike Robertson always asks those he interviews: What mistakes have you made? How did you overcome them? And what advice do you have to others to avoid similar misfortune? I’m sure any of us could speak volumes on that subject
I’d be especially interested in hearing more on how you fixed your shoulder woes – there’s lots of us out there with bad shoulders, prone internal rotations for the win!
