As I sit here to construct this short update my buns should be planted in a completely different location but my vacation plans got canceled. In lieu of the failed plans I figured I might take some time to write a not-so-regular update for a change. So lets get into the latest of the latest.
Happy Birthday To Me
I turned 23 years young on the 4th of August and to celebrate I went out for a Japanese dinner and drank about 3.5 cups too much of hot Sake. With some gifts from family and friends I decided to treat myself to a nice little gadget called the GoWear Fit. Last year I experimented with a BodyBugg and I really enjoyed using it. However, this time around I will be taking copious notes and experimenting with the device a bit more than I did with the BodyBugg. From what I have heard, the GoWear Fit is based on the same algorithms and hardware as the bugg and it seems to be pretty accurate according to the folks on the forums. If it proves to be as accurate as the BodyBugg then I will deem this purchase a solid investment.
Academics
I am finally back in school. I took a few years off due to uncontrollable life circumstances and I now finally have the luxury of finishing my BA. I worked hard and was fortunate enough to raise enough funds to go back with a full ride and then some to pay off my previous student loans. Persistence is the key to accomplishing any goal you are chasing after.
.
I just signed a new lease and the apartment is about 1 mile from the school so a majority of my transportation will be in the form of “hoofing it”. I am excited about this for more reasons than one as I will be saving money and my expenditure will increase substantially considering my day job consists of sitting 9+ hours per day. All of my previous jobs have been moderately active(ie: not sitting behind a desk the entire time). I will make sure to keep records and experiment with diet and training now that I will be able to track my expenditure via the GoWear Fit. It’s going to be interesting.
Friends and Family
My best friend and his wife just moved into town last week. He just graduated from SBU with his MBA and his wife will be working on her doctorate in physical therapy at Belmont University. He played college football and has developed an interest in training athletes, so he is currently studying for his CSCS and is looking to start training/coaching in a local fitness facility. Speaking of certifications I will begin studying(again) for my NSCA-CPT now that my weeks are a lot more open considering I no longer have to work until midnight 5 days a week.
Writing
As you have probably noticed the article updates have gone from twice per week to just once a week. There is a reason for this and it’s not because I am lazy or running out of steam. The main reason is because I have been working on getting published elsewhere. In the month of July I was published on Dumb Little Man twice and also wrote an article for Fitness Black Book titled: Improve Your Life By Improving Your Posture.
.
And just in case you missed it, you might also check out my latest article on the new I, Bodybuilder review I posted last Monday. I really expected to be flamed and hated by the loyal followers of T-Nation but from what I have read on multiple forums, even the T-Mag fan-boys are not even buying into their BS. It makes me laugh out loud a wee bit.
Future Updates
Now that I will have more time for writing, Iplan on doing a series of exercise technique articles with pictures and videos to suit. I plan to cover the big lifts, mobility stuff, rehab/prehab etc. I will also be reviewing Matt Perryman‘s book Maximum Muscle. Skyler Tanner just wrote his review so, umm, check it out.
.
I should also note that an older article of mine, Fitness Fundamentalists has spurred some conversation that might be peak your interest granted you are into debating how good or bad sugar is.
.
If there is anything you would like me to cover/write about let me know in the comments.

Ahhhhh, I remember 23! Worked at the beach all summer, finally got a “real job”, then started working on my MBA!
Sounds like you’ve got a lot going on Mr. JC!
Good Luck and Happy Belated Birthday!
JC, you’ve got it goin’ on! If I was a dude, I’d be jealous of you (that’s called being a Hater). I look forward to following all of your successes. There will be many, many, many.
