sorry about the confusion I guess I am taking too much emphasis on the numbers, a deficit is a deficit. So 2300 maintenance - 1250 avg daily = 1050 deficit , so I can loose a pound (hopefully fat) in 3 days with some cardio and exercise.

I don't really understand your question. If you know you're maintenance and then eat a certain amount below that, you're in a deficit.

In my case keeping up with diet can be difficult (get cravings), but gaining knowledge from articles like these are a great motivational boost. I am confused about one thing: *If my maintainability is 2300 kcals, Fat Loss is 1900 kcals and Extreme Fat Loss is 1350 kcals; assuming I consume an average of 1250 kcals daily - 4 to 5 meals a day (trying to cut BM% w/ exercise), From where do I calculate my caloric deficit? ty

*for a 150lbs male @ 5'9 - built

I'm the same. If a friend is having a gathering, I will definitely go off of a diet to enjoy the food and company.

I definitately have snacks and meals that don't seem to be very "diety", but I'm not organized about it at all. It happens when I feel like it, or when it's prudent for social reasons, and I don't usually feel too much remorse. Possibly I could lose weight faster if I was more organized or rigid about it, but as long as I'm still losing, I'm not concerned.
